By Lynn Lee, Year 7 Teacher

Year 7 students recently visited Hindmarsh Island as part of their camp experience.

Lifelong memories were created during the 4 days with a range of water and land based activities to keep everyone busy. The weather was mostly kind to us, although the jumper, sunscreen and sunglasses were always within reach.

Activities included: Surfing, Kayaking, Cockling, Cultural Walk, Save Your Skier and a Team Carnival. Everyone made the most of each experience, embracing challenges and building confidence, independence, self-esteem and resilience – great job!

Quantities and portion sizes went out the window when the trangia cooking commenced with some groups cooking enough pasta to feed Goolwa! The Year 7 students worked together and supported each other superbly throughout the week – what a wonderful bonding experience and what a great bunch of children.

Highlights included the surfing, cockle collecting and the team games and night activities. It was fantastic to see such great team spirit, alongside some impressive collaboration, cooperation, problem solving and deep thinking.

“Surfing was my highlight, Salty the instructor was a legend” Lucy

“I loved the night activities when all the stars were out” Scarlett

“Learning about people and their different personalities was a great experience.” Sarah

“Kayaking was a blast, it was challenging but relaxing at the same time” Leo

“The scenery was amazing and the instructors were so supportive” James
