Term 2 has been terrific for the PFA. It’s hard to believe we’re already half way through a very busy year!

Mother’s Day Stall

This term started with the hugely successful Mother’s Day stall in May, co-ordinated superbly by Sharyn Taylor and her team. A much loved SPW tradition allowing children to choose a gift for their Mum or special person.

Over 100 children had a fantastic time at Bounce last Friday night. This is the 3rd year the PFA has organised this lock-in and is always a highlight on the events calendar for the children.

The Monday afternoon BBQs continue to be enormously successful. Many thanks to Tonya and Mark Atkin who have cooked and served every Monday this term.

We’ve also had 3 Saturday morning BBQs when the SPW soccer teams played at home so thank you to all the soccer families who have helped in the shelter shed and who have bought a sausage or a muffin and encouraged opposition teams to do the same.

And many thanks, as always, to Sue Farquar who orders and stocks the BBQ each and every week.

PFA Meeting

At the May PFA meeting those in attendance voted that PFA funds raised for the year be directed towards the purchase of new portable soccer and football goals and Big Blue Blocks totalling $17,500. The Big Blue Blocks project is a joint purchase between the PFA and the School. You can view the blocks here: http://www.imaginationplayground.com/product/big-blocks.html
We look forward to these items being available for the children to use very soon.

Behind the Scenes at SPW

Unfortunately, Sonya Ryan from the Carly Ryan Foundation needed to postpone her talk. Instead the PFA held a very short meeting on Wednesday June 12 and then a ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour of the School with ELC teacher, Gary Irvine. Gary provided us with a fascinating history of the School and some interesting and amusing stories along the way.

Upcoming Events

The Parents Night: celebrating the 20th anniversary of the school and the PFA’s involvement in the school community, will be held on Saturday, 24 August with a 90s neon theme. Like in previous years it will be held at the Somerton Yacht Club and will include food and entertainment, with wine to purchase by the glass and bottle.

The Father’s Day Breakfast: is to be held on Friday, 30th August. Simon Ritchie has once again agreed to co-ordinate this event and we’re sure he’d love to hear from anyone, particularly Dads, who’d like to help at this fun morning.

Thank you to Class Representatives

Our thanks to all those people, especially the Class Representatives, who have supported the PFA in any way this semester –volunteering, donating, purchasing, advertising, supporting & cajoling!
We can’t do what we do for the school community without you, so thank you.
Enjoy a wonderful mid-winter break and we look forward to your continued involvement in Term 3.

Thank you to the PFA for sharing this story.
