On Thursday 5 November we celebrated the formal event of the commissioning of Mrs Helen Finlay, the third Principal of St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School.
The service was led by the Archbishop of Adelaide, The Most Reverend Geoffrey Smith, and was conducted in St Margaret’s Chapel.
School Chaplains Rev’d Andrew Mintern and Rev’d Michele Yuen also participated, along with our Year 7 students. The students showed maturity and humour with their adeptly themed “Leadership” skits and messages.
The service began with the Welcome to Country from Kaurna Elder, Aunty Daphne Rickett, followed by bible readings by Kate Hobart (Co President of the PFA) and Ali Cleland (Old Scholars Association President).
Mrs Finlay was delighted to receive ‘Symbols of the School’ from various members of staff.
Over 500 students, staff and special guests warmly and enthusiastically welcomed Mrs Finlay as the new St Peter’s Woodlands Principal.
Fellowship with our special guests continued after the service when they joined together for morning tea refreshments.
We are very excited to welcome Mrs Finlay and her family to the SPW community.
