As we celebrate 20 years of St Peter’s Woodlands, people within the SPW community were invited to participate in a special art installation.

Our school is a vibrant community and it is our collective stories, both past and present, which make SPW such a special place to be. As part of our 20 year celebration we are honouring these stories.

The Students Artwork

Each student was invited to create a piece of artwork that would become part of a larger collage for their year level. The children took inspiration for their artworks by drawing from their favourite SPW memories and/or thing to do at school.

Themes ranged from: school camps and excursions, the school values, a map of the school, the nature play area and extra curricula activities.

Using a wide range of mediums, such as water colour, plasticine, paint, pastel and digitally created artwork, 10 canvases were created – one canvas for each year level spanning the ELC to Year 7. Using the school colours, yellow and blue, each collage was printed on canvas and attached to the corner fence in year level order.

Community Messages

In addition to these beautiful creations, every member of the SPW community were given the opportunity to write a message on a yellow tag.

These tags were also attached to the fence with the help of a handful of students from each level, including the visiting Japanese exchange students.

To help celebrate, the Mayor of City of Holdfast Bay, Amanda Wilson, joined us for the special occasion. She marvelled at the artwork as her children Jude and Scarlett, attached their own tag to the fence line and talked about their own individual art work.

Our Community

The fence line showcases the breadth of the SPW community, from old scholars, parents, staff, students, grandparents and volunteers. The sea of yellow messages can be seen flickering in the wind, connecting all the artworks.

The installation symbolises and celebrates how vibrant and connected we are as a community – how everyone plays a vital role in making this an amazing environment for students to thrive.
Thank you to all that participated.

Celebrating 20 years.
